Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil. So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord; always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father; and be subject to one another in the fear of Christ. SD Tri Race Report

Ok, this triathlon was redemption from Wildflower lol. Seriously though, it was much better, in so many ways... It started out the same, packing all our gear in the car:
On the road again!
I wasn't expecting a hard race, like at Wildflower, and the course definitely proved to be a fast one!

SWIM (links to Garmin Connect)
Felt pretty good, and swam about as fast as expected!
Challenges:
-Although it was an easy course to sight, there were still some girls swimming in front of me sideways that I had to swim around. I probably didn't start as up front as I should have.
-I definitely swallowed some water. Mmm, boat fuel.
Blessings:
-My goggles didn't leak or fog.
-The water temp was perfect!

BIKE
Faster than expected, and just 30 seconds slower than Greg... ;)
Challenges:
-It was a little hilly, and I haven't been riding a lot of hills lately.
-As at any triathlon, there were some sketchy riders who weren't the best at maneuvering around corners or preventing drifting to the left.
Blessings:
-Check out the awesome view! Not that I was looking during the race...far too dangerous. We drove the course the day before. :)
-I felt well prepared to handle the hills, and they were no problem for me.
-I didn't run into any of the sketchy riders.
-I counted exactly 2 people who passed me. Benefits of being a slow swimmer = passing the fast swimmers on the bike!

RUN
Awesome!! I ran about 15 seconds per mile faster than expected.
Challenges:
-After the first mile, I experienced some shoulder pain. This happens sometimes when running after being in the aero position for a while.
-I felt tingling in my outer quads and wasn't sure if they were going to cramp or if it was just because I had been wiping sweat there and my tri suit material is different than the material on the shorts I train with.
Blessings:
-My shoulder pain went away quickly.
-My quads never cramped.
-The cloud cover stayed until after the race was over, making it nice and cool!
-I counted exactly 3 people who passed me. One was a 28-year-old girl near the finish line, who I would have tried to catch again had she been in my age group...although I gave this run everything I had and felt great!

And now, the moment of truth:
Official Results!
I was really happy with my overall result! After the race, because I'm a crazy Ironman-in-training, I ran back to the start. It was about 4 miles. Let me tell you, my legs were SORE the next day! My 10mi runs lately have been at about an 8:45 pace, and in total I averaged about 7:45 for 10.2mi on race day.

Aww, cute little drum set...
Since the race, we've gone to a concert (Sunday), and I've done a bunch of crazy workouts. Rest? Ha!
Paper Route - these guys are awesome!
Monday: 40 laps in the pool.
Tuesday: Rest day. Got a haircut. Now my hair can fit better under my swim cap/helmet/hat!
Wednesday: 90min bike, 50min run. Legs TIRED.
Thursday: 20x400 on the track (8mi), Bodyflow class at the gym, 42 laps in the pool. STEAK NIGHT. =D

Wednesday night to Thursday morning was tough. 2 runs in just over 12 hours. I did NOT think I was going to feel like running in the morning when I went to bed. But I woke up an hour before my alarm feeling ready to go, and went for it! I was tired and wanted to cut every workout short, but toughed it out because I WANT TO BE AN IRONMAN.
