Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil. So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord; always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father; and be subject to one another in the fear of Christ. Swim Clinic w/Jason Lezak

Last Tuesday, Greg and I were invited to attend a swim clinic hosted by Jason Lezak, former Olympian and the anchor swimmer for USA relays in Beijing with Michael Phelps.
Gold and Silver medals!
The hard work behind these medals... Watch how he flies past past France at the end of the 4x100 freestyle relay here. Amazing!
Here's another awesome video of Lezak helping Phelps get his 8th gold medal.

I took some video of the clinic, to try and remember the drills he was teaching the kids. First though, just for fun - here's a video of a kid diving with Jason, competing to see how far they could go by just drifting:

This is what it looks like when all the kids are doing a drill together:

Drill Demo #1 (face down, arms at side, kicking & rotating at 45degree angle & taking a breath):

Drill Demo #2 (1 arm extended, rotate toward that arm, use core to control body):

Drill Demo #3 (1 stroke, 6 kicks, rotating at 45 degree angle):

Drill Demo #4 (fists, elbows high, forearm is a blade - "Ok! I expect everyone to make it in 8 strokes just like me!") hahaha yeah right:

Drill Demo #5 (6 kick drill with fists):

Although we didn't get to swim with the kids, we did get our workout in after the clinic! We enjoyed hearing some awesome stories from Jason about how he got involved in swimming, the challenges he's faced, and all that he's overcome to get to the 2008 Olympic Games. Basically, you have to work hard and really want it in order to achieve your goals. Good stuff. Inspired for Ironman!

Swim for your life! (Relevant song from a concert on 3/21/13...)
